#GoodNews: McDonald’s Workers Host Baby Shower For Baby Born In Bathroom

Employees at an Atlanta-area McDonald’s helped a woman deliver her baby in the restaurant’s bathroom and then host a baby shower for her a week later. On November 23rd, Alandria Worthy felt like she was going into labor, so she had her fiancé Deandre Phillips drive her to the hospital. On the way there, she needed to use the restroom, so they pulled over at a McDonald’s. "I went into the bathroom and my water broke immediately," Worthy says.

Worthy started screaming and the restaurant’s general manager, Tunisia Woodward, came in to see what was wrong. She quickly realized what was happening and called for her colleagues Sha'querria Kaigler and Keisha Blue-Murray. Soon Phillips came into the restaurant to check on his fiancée to find her surrounded by the three women and a few minutes later their baby girl was born. They named her Nandi Ariyah Moremi Phillips, but the crew at the McDonald’s gave her an appropriate nickname given her birthplace: Little Nugget.

A week later, Worthy and Phllips returned to the McDonald’s with baby Nandi for a baby shower hosted by the crew who helped bring her into the world. They were showered with gifts from the employees and a generous gift from the franchise owner, Steve Akinboro. Woodward, Kaigler, and Blue-Murray, who are all mothers themselves, spent most of the visit doting on the baby. They all believe it was fate that brought Worthy to the restaurant that day. The ladies were rewarded for their good deed with gift certificates from Akinboro, but Woodward says she’s planning on spending all of hers on Little Nugget.
