Army Vet Granny Stops Passenger From Storming Cockpit On Flight

Georgia grandmother and 26-year Army veteran Nicole Pruitt is being hailed as a hero for stopping an unruly passenger who tried to storm the cockpit on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Tucson last week.

The suspect claims she was acting on divine instruction and tried to get into the cockpit and open the plane’s main door. Pruitt, who was traveling to meet her new grandson, says she knew she needed to do something when no one else acted to stop the passenger.

The vet jumped into action and, along with others, restrained the passenger until the situation was under control. A viral video shows the woman lying on the floor with the hero standing nearby.

Despite the disruption, Pruitt was determined to continue her trip to see her family, saying, “I’ve got to make it home to my kids, my children, my grandchildren.”

Her son, Tyrique Perry, shared the video online and says he wasn’t surprised by his mom’s bravery. Many viewers celebrated her courage, calling her a hero and urging Delta to honor her.

Delta issued a statement thanking passengers and crew for helping de-escalate the situation and apologized for the delay.
