Local leaders are among those reacting to news that President Joe Biden is ending his re-election campaign.

The president announced his campaign's end yesterday and said he is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential nominee.

Akron Mayor Shammas Malik says President Biden's decision to leave the race and pass the torch to Vice President Harris is the right choice -- and a powerful example of putting the country's best interest first.

Governor Mike DeWine, on social media, recalled his shared time in the U.S. Senate with Joe Biden and wished the president and first lady the best as Biden serves out the rest of his term and in the years ahead.
