Barbie is coming out with a new doll that pays tribute to famed Black journalist Ida B. Wells. It's part of the company's Inspiring Women Series.
The doll will be dressed in a floor-length, lace dress and will be holding a miniature replica of the Memphis Free Speech newspaper. Born into slavery in 1862, Wells would go onto to become the editor and co-owner of that paper. She eventually settled in Chicago and continued her efforts of equality for all.
The doll of the women's suffrage and social justice fighter will sell for 30-dollars starting Monday at Walmart, Target and on Amazon.
