Uber Launches UberWINE

Wine tours are a fun way to vacation with friends, but the downside is one of your crew needs to abstain from alcohol so they can be the designated driver. Of course no one wants to miss all the fun, so you could call a ride-share service, but when you’re out in a vineyard and not in the city, that could take a while. That’s why Uber launched the ideal solution: UberWINE.

The service is available in three North American wine regions for now: Santa Barbara, Napa Valley/Sonoma, and Guadalupe, Mexico. You can get a driver to stay with you all day - from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and escort you from one vineyard to the next and stay as long as you like at each.

If you’re in an area with UberWINE, it’ll show up as an option on the app, like UberPOOL or UberX. And depending on the size of your group you can get either an UberWINE or UberWINEXL car, so you’ll be nice and cozy on your wasted ride. They’re hoping to expand to more regions in the future, too. But for now, you can ride safely in wine country, California and no one has to be stuck as the DD.

So its not something that's being done nationally, however I could see if this is successful there would be more of them through the country. Regardless, its a great idea.
